Welcome Back to the Buckeye Trail Party set for Memorial Day!

Heads up hiking fans! Tom Heilbig from Tomfoolery Outdoors is hosting a “Back to the Buckey Trail” Party at 311 Drafthouse this Monday!

See below to hear from Tom himself about the event!

The trail isn’t going to hike itself! It is time to get back on the Buckeye Trail and continue my mission to raise awareness, recruit members and raise funds for the Buckeye Trail Association. Before my injury, I spent 6 weeks on trail completing roughly 600 miles of the 1,400 mile loop trail around Ohio. I started near Canal Fulton, OH and hiked in a clockwise direction before reaching Tipp City, OH.

After three weeks of rest, I am ready to return to the trail after fracturing my elbow in a mountain biking accident on May 6. The time off trail has provided a great opportunity for me to heal, reflect, be still and work on upcoming Tomfoolery Outdoors events.

My hike will resume at 10 am on Monday May 29 at Adventures on the Great Miami. I will hike north on the Buckeye Trail (shared with Great Miami Bikeway) to Piqua, OH. You are invited to hike with me during any portion of the day. Good meeting spots in Tipp City and Troy! Lots of great access to the trail.

We are hosting a Welcome Back to the Buckeye Trail Party at 311 Drafthouse in Piqua beginning at 6:30 pm on Monday May 29. Invite all your hiking, craft beer loving friends to the bash. We are currently working on featured brews and ways to support The Buckeye Trail Association

Energy was growing as I hiked around the state with promotional activities leading to 80 new Buckeye Trail Association members, $1,000 in donations, two trail town designations and 11 public appearances/speaking engagements. Two signature appearances included a keynote talk at Buckeye TrailFest and a presentation with Andrew Bashaw at International Trail Symposium. Currently, 54 people have joined me on trail during individual and scheduled hikes. Please follow the journey and see how you can get involved at http://www.buckeyetrail.org/tomfooleryoutdoors.php
